well-behaved, medium height bamboo is a new introduction from China,
and is still very rare in cultivation. It appears to be hardier than
most other species. In spring and early summer, the new shoots are
clothed with wine-tinged sheaths, which drop off to reveal olive-green,
polished canes. The foliage is darker than most other Fargesias and
the plant has a slightly open habit. Perfect if you need a smaller
specimen for a small garden or courtyard planting. Grows well with
morning sun and afternoon shade. F. rufa needs
no containment to prevent its spread. Hardy to -15°
F. nitida is a new generation seedlings. F. nitida has dark purple
to gray culms with delicate evergreen foliage. It is extremely cold
hardy, and the tallest growing of any clumping bamboo
in zone 5 and 6. F. nitida needs no containment to prevent
its spread. Hardy to -20°

the winter. Though a running bamboo, it should make a good plant

the tall heights of the Phyllostachys. Native to Ohio

DeepRoot® Bamboo Barrier has proven to be an effective material
to prevent the unwanted spread of bamboo. The smooth surface of
the Bamboo Barrier acts as a root stop diverting the rhizome and
preventing rampant growth. The rhizome will not penetrate the barrier,
rather it will turn and continue to grow along the surface of the
barrier. This contains the bamboo and prevents undesired spreading. Bamboo
